Trait Enchantment Basics
Traits are extra stats placed on gear to make your character stronger.
Gear Grade vs Trait Strength:
Trait values are the same no matter what the gear’s quality is. For example, the trait: Melee Evasion 40, can be found on Uncommon quality and Epic quality gear. Only the number of traits and the trait’s tiers can increase with gear quality.
Each gear and accessory that is Uncommon quality and above comes with 1 trait already unlocked.
- More traits can be unlocked.
- Uncommon items can have up to 2 total traits.
- Rare, Epic, and above can have up to 3.
Upgrading a Trait
Unlocked traits can be further enhanced to make them stronger.
The quality of the gear determines how many times you can enhance each trait.
- Traits on Uncommon quality gear can be enhanced 1 more time, Rare 2 more times, and Epic+ 3 more times.
Enhancing the trait ‘Melee Evasion 40’ on an Epic gear 3 more times to achieve T4 gives an additional 160 Melee Evasion.
| Uncommon | Rare | Epic 1 & 2 | |
| Max Traits | 2 | 3 | 3 |
| Traits to Unlock | 1 | 2 | 2 |
| Max Trait Tier | 2 | 3 | 4 |
TIP:
Heavy Attack Chance pictured in the trait images above is one of the most sought after traits for all classes.
- Heavy Attack Chance is usually the most expensive trait to purchase on the marketplace.
- Heavy Attack Chance improves your chances to do double healing or double damage. (Shown as X2 in the popup numbers.)
Traits Availability UI
Each gear is limited to learning from a set of 6 traits specific to that gear piece.
- A unique set of possible traits may be shared with other similar gear.
- For example, it’s common for weapons to have Heavy Attack Chance in their trait list, but not for armor!
The list of available traits for each gear is visible in the gear’s Trait List UI.
View Gear’s Trait List:
Inventory (I) → LMB gear → Trait List (search icon)
Trait List Unique to Each Gear
To see a list of possible traits for a specific piece of gear, left click the gear in your inventory to open its side menu, then select the shield and magnifying glass icon.
- This will open the Traits Info UI window which shows the chances of acquiring each trait.
- Optionally view other gear that has the same possible trait list.
The Resonance trait can be added after all other traits on the gear are unlocked and maxed out.
Trait Modification
To enhance or modify traits, open the Equipment Enchanting window by pressing the period key and selecting the Trait tab.
Left click the gear that needs Traits added or edited.
- This will move it to the center Trait editing area.
- The Material Inventory on the right shows gear that can be destroyed to unlock, convert, or enhance traits.
- The gear must be base. Gear that has been leveled or has been edited before can’t be used as fodder to modify traits.
Tait Modification Options:
- Unlock Trait Slots: Click an empty locked trait slot to proceed. (Need Trait Unlockstone, Trait Extract, or an identical item with the trait you want.)
- Swap a Trait: Click the trait you want to replace by using Trait Conversion Stones and/or an identical item with the trait you want.
- Enhance Trait: Add a trait tier, increasing the buff it gives.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Trait modification always costs Sollant. The higher the gear quality, the more it costs.
Trait Enchantment Sollant Cost
The Sollant cost of trait enchantment is reduced when using lower-grade materials.
| Grade | Material Grade | ||||
| Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Epic Lv. 2 | ||
| Target Grade | Uncommon | 3,000 | – | – | – |
| Rare | 3,600 | 15,000 | – | – | |
| Epic | 3,600 | 18,000 | 75,000 | – | |
| Epic Lv. 2 | 18,000 | 90,000 | 150,000 | ||
Unlock Trait List
Steps to unlock traits:
- Press period keybind to open the Equipment Enchanting UI.
- Select Trait tab to open the Trait Modification UI.
- Select the item you wish to modify in Trait UI Inventory
- Click the locked trait slot bar on the upper left below the gear’s current trait list.
Unlock Traits on Uncommon or Rare Gear
Unlock a trait on Uncommon or Rare gear by destroying an identical piece of gear to take its Trait.
Click the ‘Region Unlocked’ button to pay the Sollant fee and apply the trait.
Other Options:
- Optionally, you could unlock a trait slot by destroying an identical item which has an unwanted trait.
- You will have to use RNG Conversion Stone system to get the trait you desire later.
- Trait Unlockstones can only be used on Epic gear.
- You can more easily farm blue and green grade gear than Epic gear for trait fodder.
- You can purchase a Trait Extract on the Auction House, which costs Lucent.
Trait Unlock using rare boots with identical gear:
Unlock Traits on Epic Gear
There are 3 ways to Unlock traits on Epic+ gear.
- Destroy an identical piece of gear and take its Trait.
- If the identical gear doesn’t have the trait you want, but you use it to unlock a trait slot, then you can use Conversion Stones later to attempt to change an unwanted trait.
- Trait Unlockstones: Epic T1 or higher is the only grade that can use Unlockstones to unlock traits.
- Purchase a Trait Extract of an identical gear piece with Lucent on the Auction House.
Trait Unlock using Epic T2 armor with identical gear:
Trait Unlockstones
Because epic gear is harder to obtain, especially with the desired trait, you can use Trait Unlockstones.
Trait Unlockstones can be acquired through the lithograph book, expedition, fishing sacks, special events, weekly missions, mystic portals, and battle passes.
Using Trait Unlockstones:
To use Trait Unlockstones to unlock a new trait, select the locked trait bar on the left that has a lock icon, then click the ‘Unlock Trait Selectively’ button.
Select Trait:
A list of selectable traits will appear, after selecting the locked trait slot then clicking the button ‘Unlock Trait Selectively’.
Select the trait you desire then ‘Region Unlocked’ button.
Trait Unlockstone Cost:
- 50 for epic 1 armor and accessories
- 100 for epic 1 weapons
- 100 for epic 2 armor and accessories
- 200 for epic 2 weapons
Trait Extracts
You can also unlock Traits by using Trait Extracts.
Obtaining Trait Extracts:
Purchase Trait Extracts on the Auction House for usually about 40 to 400 Lucent.
- Lucent is a Special Shop purchase with real currency.
Trait Extracts can be purchased even for green grade gear.
Creating Trait Extracts
Craft your own Trait Extract by destroying gear to take its Trait with Trait Extraction Stones.
Obtain Trait Extraction Stones:
- Mystic Globes and Mystic Portals
- Inter-server Dynamic Events
- Contract Coin Merchant
- Battle Pass Rewards
- Weekly Missions
- Lithograph
- Adventure Codex
Inventory (I) → Extract Trait
Extract Trait button is at the bottom of your inventory.
Trait Conversion
You can swap out a trait you don’t want by using Trait Conversion Stones.
Enchant (.) → Trait → Select Unwanted Trait →
Two Options:
- Convert Trait Selectively: 100% Guaranteed Trait Conversion
- Trait Conversion: Obtain a random trait from a pool of 5 or 4 available Traits specific to that item.
IMPORTANT: When swapping traits, you ALWAYS get the new Trait at T1.
- So kiss your old Trait’s tiers good bye, if you leveled them. Why did you level that junky Trait like me? 🙂
Guaranteed Trait Conversion
Convert Trait Selectively → Guaranteed Trait Conversion is a guaranteed method to obtain the Trait you want from an item’s Trait List.
However, it is still going to cost you either Trait Unlockstones or the same gear!
- You have to pay Trait Conversion Stones no matter which Conversion method you choose.
Convert Trait Selectively:
- 100% Guaranteed Trait Conversion.
- Requires Trait Conversion Stones.
- Requires either Trait Unlockstones or the exact same gear with the Trait you want.
- Lower cost in Conversion Stones.
- If you use Unlockstones, instead of identical gear, the Unlockstone cost is the same as opening a locked slot.
Guaranteed Trait Conversion
Using Identical Gear
When converting a trait with an identical item, the coversion is always successful.
Conversion Stones are still required, but at a lower rate.
- Epice Lv 2 armor costs 50 Conversion Stones and 150,000 Sollant.
Trait Conversion with RNG
If you don’t have an identical gear piece, you can swap your trait by gambling. This still costs Conversion Stones and Sollant.
Trait Conversion: → Trait Chance Conversion
Obtain a random trait from a pool of 5 or 4 available Traits specific to that item.
- Requires Trait Conversion Stones only.
- Highest cost in Trait Conversion Stones.
- Does NOT require Unlockstones or same gear.
- Can be fun for gamblers or frustrating to use due to RNG.
Trait Chance Conversion
You may get an unwanted Trait.
With Trait Chance Conversion, some traits are easier to get than others.
The chances for acquiring each trait are listed in the UI on the upper right.
The cost of Trait Chance Conversion on Epic Lv 2 gear is 200 Conversion Stones.
Obtain Trait Conversion Stones:
- Mystic Globes and Mystic Portals
- Inter-server Dynamic Events
- Guild Merchant
- Battle Pass Rewards
- Weekly Missions
To purchase Trait Conversion Stones at a Guild Merchant:
- Guild must be level 10+
- 30 guild coins each
- 100 weekly limit
Enchant Traits
Traits on gear can be enhanced:
- This means the trait values can be multiplied up to 4 times depending on gear grade.
- Traits on Uncommon gear can be enhanced 1 more time to double its strength.
- Traits on Rare blue gear can be enhanced 2 more times to triple its strength.
- Traits on Epic+ gear can be enhanced 3 more times to quadruple its strength.
Destory Gear for Trait Tiers:
To increase a trait’s tier, you will need the same TYPE of gear (weapon, head, top, legs, shoes, gloves, cloak, belt, necklace, bracelet, ring) with the same trait on it to use as fodder.
Trait Tier Enhancement Chances:
Depending on the quality of the gear you use as enhancement material, your chances of success can be 100%, 10%, or only 1%.
- Same quality: 100% chance (Epic 2 fodder → Epic 2 gear)
- 1 tier lower: 10% chance (Epic 1 fodder → Epic 2 gear)
- 2 tiers lower: 1% chance (Rare fodder → Epic 2 gear)
Whether the enhancement succeeds or fails, the fodder is consumed in the process.
For example, Heavy Attack Chance 20, can be tiered up on an Epic 1 quality wand using 3 different quality fodders of the same type (weapon) with the same trait.
- Using the Uncommon quality sword fodder only gives a 1% chance of success since it is 2 tiers lower than the base wand.
- The Rare quality staff fodder gives a 10% chance of success since it is 1 tier lower than the base wand.
An Epic quality wand fodder gives 100% chance of success, since it is the same quality as the base wand.
Blessing Points
When a trait enhancement fails, the fodder is consumed but Blessing accumulates to increase your chances of succeeding on a future attempt.
How to Acquire Blessing
Fodder material is worth a certain number of Blessing Points based on the gear’s quality:
- Epic Fodder Material: Gain 80 Points
- Rare Fodder Material: Gain 40 Points
- Uncommon Fodder Material: Gain 8 Points
After using 3 Rare fodder (worth 40 points each) to try enhancing a trait on an Epic 1 weapon, 120 Blessing points have accumulated.
3 x 40 = 120
Blessing Points System
The Blessing Points required to increase 1% of a trait’s Success Chance is based on the quality of the gear receiving the trait enhancment.
For Rare gear, you need 1 Blessing point to gain 1% Success Chance, for Epic 1 gear you need 5 points, and for Epic 2 gear you need 10 points.
Blessing Points Required to Increase Success Chance by 1%:
- Epic Tier 2: 10 points
- Epic Tier 1: 5 points
- Rare: 1 point
To use the stored Blessing Points to increase your success chances, check the ‘Use Blessing’ box.
A Blessing Example
After using 2 Rare fodder to enhance a trait on an Epic 1 weapon, 80 Blessing points have accumulated. Using the Blessing points on my next trait enhancment attempt will add 16% chance of success to the base 10% chance of success, giving a total of 26% Chance of enhancement success on my 3rd attempt.
The Math in the Above Example
Epic Gear requires 5 points to gain 1% increase in Success Chance. Rare fodder material is worth 40 Points. So, using 1 Rare fodder to enhance a trait on an Epic 1 gear will increase the Success Chance by 8% for the next attempt.
40/5 = 8
Using Fodder 2 Tiers Lower
Uncommon fodder is worth only 8 points. Using uncommon fodder to enhance a trait on an Epic 1 piece of gear would only increase the Success Chance by 1.6%.
8/5 = 1.6
Blessing Points Transfer
“During equipment Power Transferring, a percentage of enchanted traits and the remaining Blessing Points are transferred to the target equipment.”
During gear transfers the Blessing stored on the fodder item is transferred to the new item along with the gear’s EXP or power. You also gain additional Blessing points based on the number of unlocked traits (and the level of those traits) on the fodder item. It’s because of this that it’s beneficial to max out the traits on the fodder item before transferring that gear’s EXP/power to the new item, even if the maxed traits on the fodder item are not your ideal traits.
My Recommendations
As a new player, I didn’t look into traits until after I was level 50 and wearing epic gear. Traits were more important than I first realized, giving your character increased power and stats. This becomes more and more important as you level, gear up, and encounter more challenging content.
It gets a lot harder and more expensive to trait Epic 1 and 2 gear because epic gear doesn’t drop as frequently as Uncommon and Rare gear.
Because of the Blessing Points transfer system, I would recommend maxing out traits on your gear as early as possible beginning with Uncommon and Rare gear. This will make enhancing traits on Epic+ gear a lot easier and faster.
Blessing Transfer Example
In the picture below, the accumulated Blessing Points from enhancing the Epic 1 top + the Blessing Points rewarded from unlocking 3 traits and tiering them up, will be transfered to the new Epic 2 top along with the EXP.
The traits on the Tier 1 fodder gear were not fully maxed out.
After the transfer is complete, the Epic 2 top will have over 2,000 Blessing Points to use for enhancing its traits.
Trait Resonance Effect
A Resonance Trait can be added after all Trait Slots are filled and the Traits are at max tier.
Trait Resonance opens up more diverse Trait options to the gear piece.
To view all applicable Resonance Traits, select the Resonance List tab in the Trait List UI.
Trait Resonance Stone
Trait Resonance Stone unlocks the Trait Resonance slot and can also be used in conversion.
